Summer is waning in the Southern Hemisphere and our guests have landed, released and dined on New Zealand’s beautiful Rainbow Trout. Sashimi, hot smoked or cooked on the beach in a piping hot geothermal stream. Winter is upon us and our best keep fishing secret is unleashing….see the trophies running the rivers and tributaries. Come nymphing on the mighty Tongariro and Lake Deltas. Stay in toastie warm luxury lodges or boutique hotels and enjoy a winter vacation. Dad catches dinner while Mom takes the kids snow skiing - It doesn’t get any better than that!

It’s been a family affair this summer

I have noticed a theme of mothers and daughters during tours this year. Adventurous, yet enjoying a little luxury, pampering and relaxation. Families too, have enjoyed summer days on the lake, swimming, catching their first trout, bathing at the natural hot water beaches. Forest and waterfall hikes a plenty. Rotorua offers a unique volcanic landscape, lakes and forests yet is only an hour away from the most beautiful coastal beaches in country…options are endless in this diverse landscape.

We’ve also had keen Mountain Bikers tearing up the tracks on a their private “uphill” Land Rover shuttle. Pace and track selection is your choice.

Family mountain biking adventure in New Zealand

Off the beaten track Waitomo Glowworm cave tours have been popular this year along with visiting the Hobbiton Movie Set located on a beautiful working farm. Eco-forest canopy Ziplining tours and Maori cultural performances are also sort after activities.

I learn a lot from my guests too - I was taught by a 10yr old how to Geocache - a global phenomenon and can be also be found in Rotorua. That fresh water stingrays exist and the northern lights are now on my bucket list!
